In 2013, from april to october, the city of Hamburg hosted the international garden Show, including a funfair and a High rope course. The required douglas fir-poles were delivered by „Hiram GmbH“ from domestic PEFC-certificated Forests. The construction company „hochkant GmbH“ concipated and built this high rope course exclusively for the garden-show.
Exactly 43 Douglas fir poles (volume: 32 cubic meter) were placed on the 7000 sqm big course. The indivual wooden poles were up to 12meters high, with a diameter of 50centimeters. The timber is chemically untreated, but cut and shaped to a special form. Being one of the most durable and attractive conifers in Europe and presenting a higher density than fir or spruce, Douglas fir is used for carrying any kinds of objects.
The high rope course is one of 80 different gardens and seven differen worlds, taking the visitors on a journey to all the different cultures and vegetation zones of our earth.
The high rope course, concipated for tall and small people, was concipated with different levels of difficulty in climbing, balancing and handing along a rope. The owner of the park is the „Schattenspringer GmbH“, already owning several adventure camps, high rope courses, City-Adventures and rafting projects, working on the increased experience- educational level. On the IGS You will find personal climbing coaches as well as programs for staff outing, class outings and family holidays.
